AI Use Policy
Purpose
The Ife Journal of Agriculture recognizes the growing use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in scholarly research and publishing. This policy provides guidance on the responsible use of AI technologies by authors, reviewers, and editors.
AI Use by Authors
Authors may use AI-assisted tools for:
-
Language editing and grammar correction;
-
Formatting and manuscript preparation;
-
Data analysis support.
Authors must disclose the use of AI tools in the manuscript where such tools have contributed substantially to content generation or analysis.
Authorship
Artificial Intelligence tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors because they cannot assume responsibility for the content, integrity, or accountability of scholarly work.
Author Responsibility
Authors remain fully responsible for:
-
Accuracy of information;
-
Validity of data and analyses;
-
Originality of the work;
-
Proper citation of sources;
-
Compliance with publication ethics.
AI-Generated Content
Authors must carefully review and verify all AI-generated outputs to ensure factual accuracy and avoid plagiarism, misinformation, fabricated references, or biased content.
Reviewers and Editors
Reviewers and editors should not upload confidential manuscript content to publicly available AI systems without authorization, as doing so may compromise confidentiality and intellectual property rights.
Compliance
Failure to disclose significant AI use or misuse of AI technologies may result in editorial action, including manuscript rejection or retraction where appropriate.
